All final submission forms and requested materials must be RECEIVED BY December 7, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. PST via online form. You must be a current CUE member in good standing to nominate for any award category. To join or renew your membership, prior to submitting your nomination, visit www.cue.org/membership. Submission forms will open in September 2017.

BLENDED AND ONLINE EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR

NEW!

The Blended and Online Educator of the Year Award recognizes a teacher who has made a noteworthy contribution to learning in an online or blended setting. Supporting and engaging all students is the key element of this award.

Required Nomination Materials:

An overview of the nominee's contributions to educational technology in a classroom setting and how the nominee uses technology to support standards-based curriculum on an ongoing basis.

Nominees must be currently teaching either in an online or blended setting with K-12 students. Nominations may be submitted by the individual nominee or by another person who is able to support the nomination through personal involvement with the nominee.

EMERGING TEACHER OF THE YEAR

Past Recipients

The CUE Emerging Teacher of the Year award recognizes a classroom teacher who in the first 7 years of their teaching career has already made a noteworthy contribution to educational technology in a classroom setting.

  • A teacher that has worked part-time during these first 7 years counts any year in which they worked with students in the classroom for any appointment 50% or greater.
  • If a nominee served 49% or less, the year doesn’t count.
  • Partial years would be divided in the same way. Half or more counts, less does not. 
  • Regardless of the above, no teacher that has been working (part time or full time) more than 10 years shall be considered. 
  • Using technology to support standards-based curriculum is the key element in this award.
  • Nominees must be current classroom teachers and CUE members in good standing. 
  • Award winner will become CUE's nominee for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Outstanding Young Educator Award, unless ineligible as per ISTE's requirements.

SITE LEADER OF THE YEAR

Past Recipients 

The Site Leader of the Year Award recognizes a school site principal or assistant principal (or equivalent) who has made a noteworthy contribution to promoting educational technology within his/her school.  Recipients must demonstrate the following:

  • Strong support for the belief that all students can excel academically
  • Exceptional leadership in finding ways that technology benefits teaching and learning
  • Building staff morale or the learning environment
  • A commitment to educational quality and student achievement
  • A commitment to professional growth
  • Creativity and innovation in dealing with issues and problems facing education.

GOLD DISK

Past Recipients

The Gold Disk is CUE's oldest recognition program. The first Gold Disk was awarded in 1983 and since that time many members of the organization have received this honor.

  • A Gold Disk is recognition of the recipient's contributions to CUE and to technology in learning.
  • CUE members who have made a significant long-term commitment to CUE and its programs can be nominated to receive the Gold Disk.
  • Nominees must have shown a seven year minimum working commitment to CUE.
  • Gold Disks are intended to celebrate member contributions of time and talent to CUE.

PLATINUM DISK

Past Recipients

2017 Nominations are due on November 15, 2016. These will be reviewed by the CUE Staff and Board of Directors at their November meeting.

CUE's Platinum Disks are presented to members of the educational technology community who have made significant ongoing contributions to the advancement of technology in education.

  • CUE members (and others in extraordinary circumstances) who have made an outstanding and continuing contribution to CUE and to accomplishing its mission and goals can be nominated to receive the Platinum Disk.
  • Platinum Disks are awarded rarely and in recognition of career-long contributions to educational technology and CUE, its affiliates and mission. 
  • Typical Platinum Disk winners have already received a Gold Disk.

TECHNOLOGY LEADER OF THE YEAR

The deadline to submit nominees to your local CUE Affiliate is November 15, 2016. Affiliates will review these nominations at their November meetings and select an Affiliate Winner!. 

Technology Leader of the Year awards recognize local, state and national leaders in educational technology. Members of the broader educational technology community (not necessarily members of CUE) are eligible for recognition in this category for their contributions to advancing the mission of the organization. Unless ineligible, award winner will become CUE's nominee for the ISTE Outstanding Leader Award.

Unless ineligible, award winner will become CUE's nominee for the ISTE Outstanding Teacher Award.

LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR & ADVOCATE OF THE YEAR

Past Recipients

2017 Nominations are due on November 15, 2016. These will be reviewed by the CUE Advocacy Committee at their November meeting. 

The Legislative Advocacy Award is presented to any combination of members of the state and/or federal legislature and their staffs or persons selected who have made sustained and/or extraordinary efforts in promoting the educational use of technology to advance student achievement through legislation. This could include the introduction of new legislation, the successful defense of funding, or the support of other education legislation that supports CUE's mission and membership.

ISTE'S MAKING IT HAPPEN

Past Recipients

2017 Nominations are due on November 15, 2016. These will be reviewed by the CUE Board of Directors at their November meeting.

The Making IT Happen award honors outstanding educators and leaders who demonstrate extraordinary commitment, leadership, courage and persistence in improving digital learning opportunities for students. 

Award winners are chosen by the awarding organization, in this case, CUE. CUE presents this award annually at its conference in Palm Springs, CA.

Award recipients are educators who:

  • Apply available technology now.
  • Move forward and don't look back.
  • See students as real people.
  • Teach through relationships, inspiring, encouraging and nurturing.
  • Recognize that further change is necessary, but understand that it is a process.
  • Realize that teacher empowerment is the key element to technology integration.
  • Expect success.
  • Motivate through awareness and access to information.
  • Nominees must be CUE members in good standing.
